Job Title
Hardware Acceleration Efficiency Architect
Role Summary
Work in Arm's Productivity Engineering Group to improve performance, utilization, and availability of global hardware acceleration infrastructure (emulation and FPGA). The role drives benchmarking, scheduling and automation to increase throughput and engineering productivity for verification and prototyping workloads.
Experience Level
Mid-level. The posting does not state explicit years of experience.
Responsibilities
Own measurement, optimization, and automation efforts across emulation and FPGA platforms to raise throughput, availability, and engineering productivity.
- Benchmark emulation and FPGA workloads; establish baselines and track improvements.
- Improve system availability and job throughput via scheduling, queuing, and recovery improvements.
- Integrate with EDA vendor APIs to automate resource management and job orchestration.
- Collaborate with in-house scheduler team to enhance resource allocation for emulation/FPGA jobs.
- Build data pipelines and dashboards to visualize performance trends and guide tuning.
- Drive continuous improvement through automation and workflow optimization.
- Work with EDA tool vendors (e.g., Cadence, Synopsys, Siemens) to validate and deploy performance improvements.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience required to perform the role.
- Strong experience in hardware emulation and FPGA environments.
- Proven ability to benchmark and profile emulation workloads and interpret performance data.
- Understanding of emulation and FPGA prototyping workflows (build, compile, partitioning, mapping, execution, debug, regression).
- Experience integrating vendor APIs or SDKs into automation or monitoring solutions.
- Familiarity with scheduler design and integration.
- Proficiency in Linux environments and scripting (Python, Bash) for automation and analysis.
- Data-driven approach to performance validation; strong analytical mindset.
- Familiarity with metrics/monitoring frameworks such as Prometheus and Grafana.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience building workflow orchestration or monitoring tools for large-scale verification environments.
- Exposure to cloud-hosted emulation or elastic compute models.
- Knowledge of EDA tool internals and licensing mechanisms.
- Experience collaborating with EDA vendors on joint optimization or benchmarking efforts.
