Graduate Talent (Firmware Development Engineer)

Role Summary

Member of the Intel Validation Engineering Group responsible for BIOS/firmware validation, debugging, and automation to ensure platform quality for Intel CPUs and chipsets.

Work with pre- and post-silicon validation and manufacturing teams across locations to develop BIOS features, support validation programs, and act as program point of contact.

Experience Level

Entry-level (graduate). Role is targeted at recent graduates or early-career engineers.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include firmware development, validation, debugging, and cross-team coordination.

  • Develop and maintain platform BIOS for silicon validation and debug.
  • Implement BIOS features used by validation and manufacturing organizations.
  • Debug and support platform BIOS for Intel processors and chipsets.
  • Serve as point of contact and lead discussions during program planning and execution.
  • Collaborate with pre- and post-silicon validation and manufacturing teams globally.
  • Create and maintain automation tools for validation and testing.

Requirements

Required technical skills and experience; preferred items listed where noted.

  • Must-have: Knowledge of Python, C, and C++ (exposure acceptable).
  • Must-have: Familiarity with Intel PC architecture.
  • Preferred: Scripting (Python, Perl) and experience with simulation tools such as Simics.
  • Preferred: Experience with BIOS development in pre- and post-silicon environments.
  • Preferred: Firmware development and debugging tool experience (compilers, debuggers, emulators).
  • Preferred: Experience with Assembly, embedded firmware, UEFI, and HW/SW interactions.
  • Preferred: Experience working with code repositories and basic communication skills.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with AI concepts (AI literate).

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering, or a Master's degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
