GPU Validation Engineer
Intel CorporationJob Title
GPU Validation Engineer
Role Summary
The GPU Validation Engineer will define and execute validation methodologies for Intel GPUs, debug silicon and emulation failures, and develop post-silicon validation infrastructure to ensure performance, power, and quality targets are met. The role sits within the Data Center Group (DCG) and collaborates with architecture, design, board, platform, and manufacturing teams.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Minimum experience per posting: Bachelor's +4 years industry experience or Master's +3 years. Expect multi-year experience in pre-silicon and post-silicon validation, debugging, and scripting/automation.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include validation, debugging, infrastructure development, and cross-team coordination.
- Define, develop, and execute validation methodologies for GPU features and interactions (media, display, system-level).
- Build and test emulation and prototyping models for GPUs.
- Perform silicon debug to identify root causes and resolve functional and triage failures.
- Develop and maintain post-silicon validation infrastructure (performance monitors, behavioral checkers, test environments).
- Conduct validation testing to verify performance, power, and area goals using hardware and software tools.
- Review design changes and update validation plans and timelines accordingly.
- Test interactions between GPU features using validation tools and infrastructure.
- Publish validation reports and communicate findings to relevant teams.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.
- Proven experience in pre-silicon validation techniques, tools, and debugging.
- Proficiency in C, C++, Python, and scripting for automation and validation tasks.
- Strong understanding of computer architecture and microarchitecture fundamentals.
- Experience with emulation platforms (e.g., ZeBu, Palladium) and FPGA prototyping or acceleration platforms.
- Hands-on silicon debug experience and familiarity with post-silicon validation workflows and tools.
- Ability to develop validation protocols, performance monitors, and behavioral checkers.
- Experience collaborating across architecture, design, board, platform, and manufacturing teams and producing clear validation reports.
Nice-to-have:
- Familiarity with PCIe standards and compliance processes.
- Knowledge of GPU architecture and GPU AI benchmarks or rendering concepts.
- Experience with hardware debug tools (logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, in-circuit emulators) and Design for Debug methodologies.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field with 4+ years of industry experience, or a Master’s degree in a relevant field with 3+ years of experience. The posting allows experience gained via coursework, research, internships, or previous jobs as relevant equivalent experience.
