Job Title

GPU Software Performance Intern

Role Summary

Hands-on intern role on the GPU software team within Intel's Data Center Group (DCG). Contribute to firmware, device drivers, APIs, application layers, and supporting tools used for profiling, optimization, and productization of Intel GPU and graphics/GPGPU software.

Work closely with cross-functional hardware and software teams to improve performance, reliability, and product readiness for data center GPU solutions.

Experience Level

Entry-level intern / student role. The position targets current students in their 2nd or 3rd year (see Education Requirements for details) and is intended for those maintaining student status for at least one year.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include hands-on development, profiling, and collaboration to improve GPU software performance.

  • Develop and improve software across firmware, device drivers, APIs, and application layers for Intel GPUs.
  • Build and extend tools and infrastructure for profiling, optimization, and productization.
  • Debug, profile, and optimize code to meet performance and reliability targets.
  • Collaborate with hardware and cross-functional teams to align software with hardware capabilities and customer needs.
  • Document technical findings and share insights to support continuous improvement.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and practical abilities; preferred items are marked.

  • Must-have: Proficiency in C/C++ and Python.
  • Must-have: Familiarity with debugging techniques and standard software development tools.
  • Must-have: Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly in English.
  • Preferred: Interest or experience in Linux development.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of graphics or compute APIs (Direct3D11/12, OpenGL, Vulkan) or similar.
  • Preferred: Experience with development environments such as Visual Studio.
  • Preferred: Demonstrated enthusiasm for learning and adapting to new technologies.

Education Requirements

Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science or equivalent (2nd or 3rd year of studies) and able to maintain student status for at least one year. Preferred: Bachelor's in Computer Science or related field; candidates pursuing a Master's are also considered. Equivalent practical experience is acknowledged where stated.
