Job Title

GPU Software Development Engineer

Role Summary

Work on validation and debug of graphics IP and software to ensure robustness and quality of Intel graphics products. The role focuses on end-to-end validation across display, media, 3D, compute and power conservation, and on driving issue resolution with software and hardware teams.

Experience Level

Mid-level (Experienced hire). Candidates are expected to have prior hands-on experience in graphics validation, debugging, or driver/software development; typical relevant experience starts at roughly 3 years, depending on prior role and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include validating graphics features, debugging failures, and enabling features for end-user applications.

  • Perform driver and application validation and debug activities for graphics subsystems.
  • Integrate upcoming graphics features into end-to-end validation flows.
  • Triage and debug reported failures; drive issue resolution with software and hardware engineering teams.
  • Scale validation and debug across Display, Media, 3D, Compute and power-conservation components.
  • Analyze cross-component features and design robust end-user test scenarios.
  • Develop and maintain debug tools to improve validation and debug efficiency.
  • Enable and tune features for content-creation, gaming, and AI applications to improve functionality and performance.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and domain experience; preferred items are listed separately.

Must-have:
  • Hands-on experience with computer graphics hardware, software, and GPUs.
  • Software development experience in C, C++, and Python.
  • Validation, debugging, and triage experience at ingredient or platform level in Graphics, Media, or Display domains.
  • Ability to create effective test scenarios and analyze cross-component interactions.
  • Experience collaborating with software and hardware teams to resolve issues.
Nice-to-have:
  • Familiarity with graphics APIs and frameworks such as DirectX, OpenGL, OpenCL, Vulkan.
  • Experience with Windows OS architecture and kernel-mode debugging (WDM/WDF, drivers).
  • Knowledge of media codecs, device and system-level architecture (especially x86), and common debug tools (WinDbg, PIX, GPA, GPUView, emulators/JTAG debuggers).

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field with 3+ years relevant experience; OR Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering with 1+ years relevant experience; OR currently pursuing a PhD with at least 6 months of relevant work or academic experience. Fields cited: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical disciplines.
