GPU Software Development Engineer

Role Summary

The GPU Software Development Engineer is responsible for validating and debugging Intel graphics IP and ensuring the robustness and quality of graphics software and drivers. The role works within the Silicon and Platform Engineering Group and partners with hardware and software teams to reproduce, triage, and resolve graphics issues across Display, Media, 3D, Compute and power conservation components.

This is an on-site role based in Bangalore focused on end-to-end validation, developing debug tools, and enabling features for content-creation, gaming, and AI workloads.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include validation, debugging, and feature integration for graphics platforms.

  • Perform graphics driver and application validation and debug activities.
  • Integrate upcoming graphics features into end-to-end validation flows.
  • Triage and debug reported failures; drive issue resolution with software and hardware teams.
  • Scale validation across Display, Media, 3D, Compute and power-conservation components.
  • Analyze cross-component features and develop robust end-user test scenarios.
  • Develop debug tools to improve validation and debugging efficiency.
  • Enable and optimize new features for content creation, gaming, and AI workloads.

Requirements

Looking for candidates with strong software skills, graphics domain experience, and debugging/validation expertise.

Must-have:

  • Experience with computer graphics hardware, software and GPUs.
  • Software development skills in C and C++; proficiency in Python.
  • Validation and debugging/triage experience at ingredient or platform level in Graphics, Media, or Display domains.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-have:

  • Familiarity with industry graphics APIs and frameworks: DirectX, OpenGL, OpenCL, Vulkan.
  • Experience with Windows OS architecture and Windows kernel internals.
  • Experience with framework and kernel debugging; Windows Driver Model (WDM/WDF) and Kernel Mode Drivers.
  • Understanding of media codecs and use-cases.
  • Knowledge of device and system-level architecture, especially x86-based platforms.
  • Familiarity with debug tools such as WinDbg, PIX, GPA, GPUView, emulators and JTAG debuggers.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering with 2+ years relevant experience; OR Master's degree in the same fields with 1+ year relevant experience; OR currently pursuing a PhD with relevant work or academic experience. Requirements may be met through a combination of industry experience, internships, coursework, research, or equivalent practical experience.
