Job Title

GPU Performance Verification Engineer

Role Summary

Perform performance verification of GPU graphics logic (3D, media, display) to ensure designs meet functional, performance, and power targets. Work with GPU architects, RTL developers, and physical design teams within Intel's Data Center Group (DCG).

Develop and maintain scalable verification plans, test benches, and simulation models to identify and resolve performance issues in pre-silicon environments.

Experience Level

Mid-level. The posting requests approximately 2–10 years of industry experience; typical candidates will be mid-career engineers.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include verification planning, test development, execution, debugging, and collaboration across design teams.

  • Perform performance verification for graphics logic components (3D graphics, media, display).
  • Define and implement scalable, reusable IP verification plans and verification environment architecture.
  • Develop and run system simulation models to verify design behavior, analyze power and timing, and find bugs.
  • Replicate, root-cause, and debug issues in presilicon environments; implement corrective measures for failing tests.
  • Document test plans and lead technical reviews with design and architecture teams.
  • Maintain and improve performance verification infrastructure and methodology; participate in defining verification TFMs.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; listed succinctly. Education requirements are summarized separately below.

  • Experience verifying subsystems or SoCs that include GPU and/or CPU functionality.
  • Experience writing UVM-based tests, assembly tests, and tests using high-level APIs such as OpenGL and/or OpenCL.
  • Knowledge of 3D and/or compute graphics pipelines.
  • Familiarity with cache controllers and memory protocols (HBM, LPDDR, GDDR).
  • Knowledge of industry-standard emulation tools (e.g., Zebu, Veloce, Palladium).
  • Strong debugging and presilicon validation skills.
  • Nice-to-have: prior performance verification experience and performance/bottleneck analysis of 3D or compute workloads.

Education Requirements

Requires a Bachelor's or Master's degree. The posting specifies 2–10 years of experience. Specific fields of study are not listed.
