Job Title
FPGA Engineer - HFT
Role Summary
Design and implement FPGA firmware and hardware-level solutions to support low-latency proprietary trading systems. Work within a small engineering team collaborating with trading, software, and infrastructure teams to optimize performance and reliability.
The team focuses on pushing performance to the maximum in a production trading environment and values practical, high-impact engineering.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Years of experience not specified; candidates should have demonstrated FPGA development and low-latency system experience.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include:
- Develop, simulate, synthesize, and debug FPGA designs for low-latency trading applications.
- Implement and optimize datapaths, interfaces (PCIe, Ethernet), and timing-critical logic for minimal latency.
- Collaborate with traders and software engineers to integrate FPGA solutions with trading systems.
- Perform timing closure, resource optimization, and hardware bring-up on target platforms.
- Maintain firmware repositories, CI, and test benches; troubleshoot production issues.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Practical FPGA design experience using VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog.
- Experience with FPGA toolchains (e.g., Xilinx Vivado, Intel Quartus) and timing analysis.
- Expertise in low-latency design techniques and hardware debugging (logic analyzers, JTAG).
- Familiarity with high-speed interfaces such as PCIe and Ethernet and relevant protocols.
- Comfortable working in Linux and scripting (e.g., Python, shell) for build and test automation.
- Strong collaboration skills in cross-functional teams; focus on performance and reliability.
Nice-to-have:
- Background in high-frequency trading or market-making systems.
