Job Title

FPGA Engineer

Role Summary

Develop FPGA-based hardware for safety-critical avionics products as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team. Work covers RTL design, verification, hardware bring-up, and lifecycle support through certification and production.

Position is on-site in Exton, PA and supports avionics systems that require rigorous design assurance and collaboration with systems, software, PCB, and manufacturing teams.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” approximately 2+ years of FPGA or ASIC development experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include design, verification, and validation of FPGA-based avionics hardware:

  • Design, implement, and verify FPGA logic targeting Xilinx devices using Vivado.
  • Develop RTL in Verilog and/or VHDL and perform RTL simulation and synthesis.
  • Perform timing analysis, place-and-route validation, and timing closure activities.
  • Conduct hardware validation, lab testing, circuit board bring-up, and system-level debugging.
  • Support requirements development, requirements traceability, and certification artifacts consistent with DO-254 practices.
  • Collaborate with Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, PCB Design, and Manufacturing across the product lifecycle from concept through production.
  • Contribute to design documentation and configuration management for regulated products.

Requirements

Must-have and preferred qualifications for successful candidates.

  • Must-have: 2+ years FPGA or ASIC development experience.
  • Must-have: Proficiency in Verilog or VHDL and experience with RTL workflows (simulation, synthesis, place & route, timing closure).
  • Must-have: Hands-on experience with Xilinx FPGA architectures and the Vivado tool suite.
  • Must-have: Experience with RTL simulation tools such as ModelSim or Questa.
  • Must-have: Strong analytical and board-level debugging skills and experience with hardware validation.
  • Must-have: Ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams and produce engineering documentation.
  • Must-have: U.S. person status (U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or asylum/refugee status) due to export control requirements.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience in regulated or safety-critical environments and familiarity with DO-254 processes.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with digital interfaces such as I2C, SPI, JTAG, Ethernet, PCIe, and video interfaces.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is specified, or equivalent practical experience. The posting allows equivalent experience in lieu of the degree.
