Job Title
FPGA Engineer
Role Summary
Lead design and implementation of FPGA- and SoC-based systems for next-generation space connectivity products. Work on high-speed communications processing, DSP, security, and networking algorithms and contribute to digital/modem architecture within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
Experience Level
Mid-level β typically 3+ years of relevant FPGA design experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include system and FPGA design, verification, and stakeholder leadership.
- Design and implement FPGA/SoC-based digital systems, including IC/SoC-class FPGAs.
- Develop high-speed communications processing subsystems and implement DSP, security, and networking algorithms on SoC FPGAs.
- Design distributed, robust systems addressing physical effects of the space environment.
- Contribute to digital/modem architecture and system-level design decisions.
- Lead technical design reviews with stakeholders.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to drive implementation and verification.
- Perform lab-based debugging and verification to achieve timing closure and integration goals.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.
- 3+ years of complex FPGA design experience.
- Experience developing multiple FPGA designs through the full design life cycle (requirements β integration β delivery).
- Expertise in RTL design using SystemVerilog, Verilog, and/or VHDL.
- Experience with Xilinx devices and SoC-class FPGAs.
- Knowledge of signal processing functions and mixed-signal systems.
- Hands-on FPGA build flow experience: synthesis, place & route, timing constraints, and timing closure.
- Hands-on lab debug and FPGA debug methodologies.
- Must meet ITAR obligations: U.S. citizen, U.S. lawful permanent resident, or protected person under 8 U.S.C. Β§ 1324b(a)(1),(3).
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in teams.
Preferred:
- Experience with Xilinx Versal SoC (Programmable Logic, AIE cores, ARM processors).
- Familiarity with Vivado, Vitis, Synopsys tools, QuestaSim, linters, and CDC analysis tools.
- Experience implementing DSP, commercial security, or networking algorithms and high-speed SERDES (10G/25G Ethernet, JESD204C, Aurora).
- Experience with channelizing, beamforming, MIMO, and memory/storage system design.
- Ability to write scripts in MATLAB, Python, TCL, or similar languages for verification and automation.
- Experience in space system development or ruggedized product development.
Education Requirements
B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering with emphasis on signal processing, or equivalent practical experience.
