Job Title
FPGA Engineer
Role Summary
Design, build, and validate FPGA-based accelerators and prototyping platforms for intelligent autonomous systems. Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and software teams to rapidly prototype algorithmic subsystems and drive concepts through the prototype phase.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Requires approximately 3+ years of FPGA design experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Define, build, and enhance FPGA prototyping platforms for algorithm validation.
- Use rapid FPGA prototyping techniques to evaluate feasibility of algorithmic subsystems.
- Apply computer-architecture techniques to achieve high-throughput, resource-efficient acceleration.
- Develop vendor-neutral FPGA/RTL designs intended to prototype ASIC implementations.
- Coordinate with third-party vendors for software, firmware, and IP cores.
- Create interface documentation for hardware/software integration.
- Collaborate across electrical, mechanical, and software disciplines to deliver prototypes.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- 3+ years of FPGA design experience using Verilog, SystemVerilog, or VHDL.
- 3+ years working with AMD/Xilinx, Intel/Altera, Gowin, or Lattice FPGA devices.
- Programming familiarity in C and/or C++.
- Scripting experience (Python, Tcl, shell scripts, or equivalent EDA tool scripting).
- Experience developing firmware to exercise and drive FPGA prototypes.
- Proven ability to drive hardware/software co-development from concept to prototype.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with HLS for rapid hardware prototyping.
- Robotics algorithms and ROS2 integration experience.
- Experience with software-defined radio (SDR), electronic warfare (EW), or RADAR.
- Familiarity with ASIC design flow.
- Experience with embedded robotics platforms such as NVIDIA Jetson.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science β or equivalent practical experience.
