FPGA Engineer
Role Summary
The FPGA Engineer will design, implement, verify, and document FPGA solutions with a focus on video and signal-processing applications. The role covers the full development cycle and requires close collaboration with hardware and software teams to integrate FPGA logic into system-level products.
Experience Level
Mid-level - minimum 5 years of FPGA development experience required.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include design, verification, integration, and support of FPGA-based DSP and video processing systems.
- Design and implement digital signal processing algorithms (e.g., FIR/IIR filters) on FPGAs.
- Implement video/ISP pipelines including data conversion, filtering, and buffering.
- Integrate and verify third-party IP cores and develop glue logic between IP and system components.
- Create and maintain efficient FPGA architectures meeting performance, power, and resource constraints.
- Develop automation scripts for build, simulation, and verification flows.
- Perform timing closure and optimize designs for resource utilization and performance.
- Manage integration between FPGA logic and processing subsystems (FPGA SoC devices).
- Create and execute verification plans for custom logic and IP integrations.
- Use hardware debug tools (logic analyzers, oscilloscopes) to diagnose issues and support system-level testing.
- Produce technical documentation such as architecture specifications and design documents; collaborate with hardware and software teams.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- Minimum 5 years of FPGA development experience.
- Strong proficiency in VHDL and Verilog.
- Proven experience implementing digital signal processing on FPGAs.
- Experience with FPGA timing closure and performance optimization.
- Familiarity with integrating third-party IP cores and SoC-level integration.
- Experience writing automation scripts for FPGA build, simulation, and verification.
- Practical hardware debugging experience using logic analyzers and oscilloscopes.
Nice-to-have:
- Prior experience with video/ISP processing pipelines and related IP.
- Experience with specific vendor toolchains or FPGA families (not specified in posting).
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field from an accredited institution.
