FPGA Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and implement FPGA-based digital signal processing for MIMO wireless networking products. Work on FPGA research and development projects from concept through field deployment and collaborate with RF and software engineering teams.
Reports to the Director of FPGA Engineering. Role is based at Silvus Technologies headquarters in West Los Angeles, CA on a hybrid schedule (minimum 3 days onsite per week: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday).
Experience Level
Entry-level / Early career - new grad to early-career candidates. Typical background: ~2+ years of FPGA design experience or an advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include FPGA architecture, implementation, verification, and cross-team support.
- Architect digital designs for wireless communication and MIMO systems.
- Design fixed-point signal-processing blocks in collaboration with systems engineers.
- Implement RTL, develop simulations and test benches.
- Perform FPGA synthesis, timing closure, and optimization.
- Hardware verification and troubleshooting; use of logic analyzers and lab equipment.
- Support RF and software teams during integration and testing.
- Participate in R&D activities and support field deployments.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and eligibility requirements; preferred items noted separately.
- Must-have: Demonstrated experience with multiple clock-domain, high-utilization FPGA designs.
- Proven experience with Xilinx FPGAs/SoCs and the Vivado IDE.
- Experience scripting with TCL or Python for automation and flows.
- Experience with RTL coding, simulation, and testbench development.
- Hands-on FPGA synthesis and timing-closure experience.
- Hardware verification and troubleshooting experience; familiarity with logic analyzers.
- Ability to work on-site in Los Angeles at least three days per week (Mon/Wed/Thu).
- Eligibility: Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident). Employment contingent on successful background check and drug test.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with fixed-point arithmetic and DSP designs, MATLAB, and communication systems implemented on FPGA or ASIC.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field plus a minimum of 2 years of FPGA design experience, OR an advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Preferred: M.S. in Electrical Engineering. Equivalent practical experience is accepted as described in the posting.
