Job Title

Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) Engineer

Role Summary

Design and implement digital logic for radar, acoustic, and RF sensing systems used in defense and autonomous applications. Collaborate with hardware, embedded, and signal-processing teams to deliver high-performance, reliable FPGA-based data acquisition and processing solutions.

Experience Level

Mid-level. No specific years of experience specified.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include:

  • Design and implement FPGA logic for sensor data acquisition, signal processing, and control.
  • Translate signal-processing algorithms into efficient RTL in collaboration with algorithm engineers.
  • Build streaming data pipelines that meet throughput, latency, and resource requirements.
  • Integrate high-speed ADCs, DACs, memory, and communication interfaces on FPGA platforms.
  • Develop testbenches and simulations to verify functionality prior to hardware testing.
  • Manage synthesis, implementation, timing constraints, and timing closure.
  • Design reliable clock-domain crossings, reset sequences, and synchronization schemes.
  • Assist with hardware bring-up and debug data integrity, interface, and timing issues using lab equipment and FPGA debug tools.
  • Document interfaces, resource utilization, and verification results to maintain repeatable workflows.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • Experience developing FPGA designs from RTL through verification and hardware deployment.
  • Proficiency in Verilog, SystemVerilog, or VHDL.
  • Strong understanding of synchronous digital design, timing constraints, clock-domain crossings, and reset strategies.
  • Experience with FPGA simulation, synthesis, implementation, and timing analysis.
  • Hands-on debugging experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and FPGA debug tools.
  • Ability to optimize designs for throughput, latency, logic, memory, and power trade-offs.
  • Clear technical communication and ability to work across electrical, embedded, and signal-processing teams.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with high-speed ADC/DAC integration and sensor systems.
  • Familiarity with hardware bring-up and lab verification workflows.

Education Requirements

A degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related technical field is required.
