Field Application Engineer – Automotive (EMEA)
Role Summary
Customer-facing technical individual contributor based in EMEA who supports automotive OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers to enable design wins for processor IP, software tools and custom silicon platforms. The role bridges customer requirements with product and engineering teams to move designs from evaluation to implementation.
Experience Level
Mid-level / Mid-Career. The role expects around 5–10+ years of relevant experience in field/application/design engineering or equivalent practical experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on technical customer engagement, enabling design wins, and resolving technical issues across hardware and software.
- Serve as primary technical interface for customers during pre-sales and early development.
- Support customer evaluation and adoption of processor IP, toolchains and custom silicon solutions.
- Drive design-in activities at OEMs, Tier‑1s and design houses to secure CPU IP licenses and custom silicon programs.
- Provide hands-on guidance for IP integration, software toolchains, development environments and system architecture.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware/software technical issues; escalate complex problems to internal engineering teams.
- Work with Sales and Business Development to support proposals, RFIs and opportunity closure.
- Coordinate with product and engineering teams to translate customer requirements into actionable feedback.
- Engage ecosystem partners, participate in workshops, demos and industry events to position solutions in EMEA.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience followed by a short list of preferred qualifications.

Must-have: 5–10+ years in Field Application, Applications or Design Engineering (semiconductor/IP/SoC/embedded systems or automotive electronics).
- Proven track record supporting customer engagements and securing design wins.
- Strong understanding of automotive electronic architectures (MCUs, SoCs, domain/zonal controllers) and relevant use cases (e.g., ADAS/perception, motor control/electrification).
- Familiarity with processor architectures, embedded software development (compilers, SDKs, OS) and system-level integration.
- Hands-on technical mindset with strong debugging and problem-solving skills; ability to operate independently in a field-based role.
- Strong customer-facing communication skills and ability to align technical depth with customer business needs.
- Fluent English (C1).

Nice-to-have: Experience with RISC-V ecosystem or CPU IP integration, custom silicon/SoC development flows, and familiarity with functional safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262).
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in an engineering discipline (or equivalent practical experience) is expected.
