Job Title

FAST Labs Senior Principal II Engineer - Electrical (Digital Lead)

Role Summary

Lead electrical engineering for development, integration, test, and transition-to-production of complex high-speed digital circuit card assemblies. Manage and mentor junior engineers and coordinate across engineering, operations, quality, and manufacturing functions.

Work supports advanced defense electronics and technology maturation for government customers.

Experience Level

Senior β€” typically 8+ years of development experience; advanced degree may reduce the years-of-experience requirement.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Lead and mentor a team of junior engineers; provide technical guidance and oversight.
  • Plan and execute first-unit tests, design verification, integration, and transition-to-production for digital modules.
  • Test and troubleshoot systems, modules, and sub-assemblies; collaborate with program engineering staff.
  • Interface with Engineering, Operations, and Quality to drive defect resolution and root-cause analysis.
  • Develop and review technical documentation: test procedures, drawings, specifications, reports, and ECOs.
  • Implement product and test improvements to reduce cost, increase yield, and improve throughput.
  • Provide training and support to technicians and manufacturing personnel.
  • Engage with customers and suppliers as required.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, security, and domain experience:

  • 8+ years of development experience in electronic hardware.
  • Proven experience in high-speed digital design of circuit card assemblies.
  • Experience with design, build, integration, and/or test of complex electronic systems.
  • Active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a DoW Top Secret clearance.
  • Strong technical aptitude, written and verbal communication skills, and ability to work cross-functionally.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with ADC/DAC, JESD, PCIe, Ethernet interfaces with FPGAs and processors (VHDL experience noted).
  • Experience with SERDES, Fiber Optic, 1553, embedded processors, and related interfaces.
  • Familiarity with laser drives, TEC control, motor control, power supplies, and small-signal analog.
  • CAD-based schematic capture and simulation experience.
  • Current active Top Secret clearance (preferred).

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree is required; an advanced degree can reduce the years-of-experience expectation. The posting allows equivalent practical experience in lieu of a degree.
