The Failure Analysis Technician investigates product and process failures to determine root causes and supports corrective and preventive actions to improve product quality and reliability.

Responsibilities
Primary duties include executing analytical tests, identifying failure mechanisms, and communicating results to cross-functional teams.
- Perform failure analysis on electronic components, assemblies, and systems using established methods.
- Identify and document root causes with clear, data-driven conclusions.
- Conduct laboratory tests and experiments to isolate failure mechanisms.
- Prepare detailed technical reports and present findings to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and manufacturing to recommend and support corrective and preventive actions.
- Operate and interpret results from analytical equipment such as SEM, X-ray, EDX, and optical microscopy.
- Support development and standardization of failure analysis techniques and procedures.
- Perform routine tool maintenance, calibration, and basic troubleshooting to ensure lab readiness.
- Maintain accurate records and comply with safety, quality, and documentation standards.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for successful performance in the role.
- Hands-on experience in a laboratory environment performing testing and analysis.
- Working knowledge of semiconductor materials, electronic components, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience or exposure to failure analysis methodologies or related quality investigations.
- Familiarity with basic statistical analysis and quality tools (e.g., SPC, root cause analysis).
- Proficiency using laboratory equipment and analytical tools; ability to interpret data and generate technical reports.
- Ability to perform routine tool maintenance, calibration, and basic troubleshooting.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with advanced analytical techniques such as SEM, EDX, X-ray, or optical microscopy.
- Background in quality assurance or reliability engineering environments.
- Familiarity with continuous improvement or corrective action processes.
Education Requirements
