Job Title

Failure Analysis Engineer

Role Summary

Responsible for die-level failure analysis and technical support for characterization, test, and assembly technologies. Works with design, product engineering, CQE, wafer fab, and assembly/test teams to isolate failure sites, determine root cause, and verify failure mechanisms.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Requires either a Masters in Electrical Engineering + 2 years of relevant experience or a Bachelors in Electrical Engineering + 5 years in process integration, product development, or failure analysis in semiconductor manufacturing.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Perform die-level circuit analysis, deprocessing, and defect localization to identify failure mechanisms.
  • Conduct bench-level electrical verification and fault isolation on integrated circuits.
  • Use schematics, layouts, and test plans to perform testing, checkout, and troubleshooting.
  • Operate and maintain bench equipment required for failure analysis.
  • Manage the failure analysis process and write detailed failure analysis reports.
  • Collaborate with wafer fab, assembly/test, design engineering, product engineering, and CQE.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience:

  • Practical experience in failure analysis, process integration, or product development within semiconductor manufacturing.
  • Die-level failure analysis and circuit-analysis capability.
  • Proficiency with bench electrical testing and fault isolation techniques.
  • Experience with deprocessing and techniques to isolate failure locations.
  • Strong technical writing skills for clear, detailed reporting.
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams and provide technical consultation.

Education Requirements
