Failure Analysis and TEM Engineer

Role Summary

Join the failure analysis laboratories supporting Intel Foundry technology development and yield improvement in Kiryat-Gat. The role focuses on Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) engineering to diagnose defects, support process integration, and enable ramp-up of manufacturing yields.

The position is hands-on and laboratory-based, working with microscopy teams, sample-preparation technicians, and cross-functional fab/process groups. Weekend onsite work is required as needed.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” typically around 2+ years of relevant TEM or semiconductor laboratory experience.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include operating TEM equipment, analyzing results, and supporting process teams. The role also involves planning and mentoring within the TEM group.

  • Review incoming failure-analysis requests and determine appropriate TEM workflow strategy; prepare plans for TEM sample preparation teams.
  • Operate laboratory equipment including TEM microscopes and related tools.
  • Interpret complex TEM results and translate findings into actionable recommendations for FAB process and integration teams.
  • Support continuous improvement and development of new workflows and techniques.
  • Develop and maintain thorough understanding of manual TEM operation lines.
  • Mentor and guide TEM preparation technicians.
  • Collaborate with multi-functional and multi-cultural teams; communicate results clearly in oral and written form.
  • Work onsite, including weekends when required by business needs.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.

  • Minimum ~2 years of hands-on experience in a TEM engineering laboratory or semiconductor environment (student experience may count).
  • Practical experience operating TEM equipment and performing TEM analyses.
  • Ability to interpret TEM data and produce clear, actionable technical conclusions for process/FAB teams.
  • Hands-on familiarity with TEM sample handling and coordination with sample-prep teams.
  • Strong teamwork, analytical problem solving, decision making, and written/oral communication skills.
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn new techniques; ability to work effectively across functions and cultures.

Nice-to-have:

  • Extensive TEM experience (>5 years) and advanced TEM interpretation skills.
  • Experience with various TEM sample-preparation techniques.
  • Understanding of FinFET architecture and wafer fabrication/microelectronics.

Education Requirements

Master's or PhD in science or engineering (science and engineering majors). PhD is preferred. The posting also allows equivalent practical experience or a combination of industry experience, internships, coursework, and research to meet requirements.
