Job Title

Experienced SoC Design Engineer

Role Summary

Work within a Design Engineering / SoC team to design, implement and deliver system-on-chip (SoC) subsystems and IP blocks. Collaborate with architecture, verification, software and physical-design teams to achieve performance, power and area targets for Arm-based products.

This listing represents experienced design roles based in Bristol (multiple-location postings may apply); specific project focus varies by team (SoC block design, clock/power/reset, video IP, etc.).

Experience Level

Mid-level (Experienced professional). Exact years of experience not specified; candidates are expected to have practical SoC or RTL design experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities typically include:

  • Architect, design and implement RTL for SoC blocks and IP using SystemVerilog/Verilog.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (architecture, verification, software, physical design) to integrate blocks into chips.
  • Perform synthesis, timing closure, constraint development and static timing analysis.
  • Support verification activities, including unit and integration test plans and regression runs.
  • Optimize designs for power, performance and area (PPA) targets and participate in design reviews.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation and design specifications.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience (concise):

  • Proven RTL design experience using Verilog/SystemVerilog.
  • Hands-on experience with synthesis flows, constraints, and static timing analysis.
  • Familiarity with SoC integration challenges and working with cross-discipline teams.
  • Practical scripting skills (Python, Tcl) to automate flows and debug issues.
  • Experience with verification methodologies and testbench development (practical UVM or equivalent experience preferred).

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with ARM processor systems, low-power design techniques, power intent formats (CPF/UPF), or physical design constraints.
  • Experience with FPGA prototyping, emulation or silicon bring-up.

Education Requirements

The page references apprentice, intern and graduate roles and also experienced professional postings but does not state explicit degree or field requirements for these specific listings. Typical hires for these roles commonly hold technical degrees (e.g., BEng/BSc/MSc in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related fields) or demonstrate equivalent practical experience.
