Role Summary

The Equipment Engineer is responsible for maintaining, optimizing and supporting automated test equipment (ATE), handlers, and related production test systems to ensure high uptime, yield and throughput for semiconductor production in the Kuala Lumpur site.

The role works with production, process and design teams to troubleshoot failures, drive continuous improvement, and implement corrective actions that reduce cycle time and costs.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and support ATE testers and handlers; perform preventive and corrective maintenance to minimize downtime.
• Troubleshoot equipment, hardware and PCB issues down to component level; debug test failures and identify root causes.
• Support production testing (FT/SLT), monitor tester uptime, downtime and yield loss; handle engineering issues impacting production flow.
• Drive continuous improvement to enhance yield, quality, throughput and reduce cycle time; analyze equipment performance and implement cost-effective solutions.
• Perform failure analysis for production rejects and RMA units and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Develop and maintain ATE hardware, load boards and test programs (listed as optional/advanced responsibilities).
• Create SOPs, work instructions, maintenance procedures, and keep equipment logs and calibration records to ensure quality compliance.
• Coordinate with vendors and suppliers and provide technical training to technicians and operators.
