Job Title

Engineering Technician, Intermediate

Role Summary

Support ATE test hardware through design validation, troubleshooting, repair, and hands-on test execution across data center, automotive, and robotics product lines. Collaborate with engineers and test hardware teams to set up equipment, run characterization/DOE, collect measurements, and maintain test lab inventory and safety standards.

Work is performed in lab and test environments under supervision.

Experience Level

Mid-level — Intermediate position. Typically requires 1+ year of relevant technician or related experience when no degree is held.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include operating and maintaining test benches, executing tests, and supporting test hardware teams.

  • Set up, install, upgrade, configure, and maintain benches, testers, and other equipment.
  • Perform measurements, document test results and KPIs, and maintain malfunction records.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, rework, remove, and adjust equipment as necessary.
  • Set up test equipment using hand tools or automated methods to test circuits, components, instruments, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Execute manual and automated test plans; reproduce and debug issues; provide input on test cases and procedures.
  • Track purchasing, shipping/transporting, receiving, and usage of inventory and equipment for test labs and projects.

Requirements

Must-have skills and conditions:

  • Hands-on experience with test equipment, measurements, troubleshooting, and repairs; ability to execute manual and automated tests.
  • General computer skills, including Microsoft applications.
  • Ability to frequently transport and install equipment weighing at least 25 lbs.
  • Ability to work in a matrixed organization and collaborate with engineering teams; works under supervision.
  • 1+ year of Engineering Technician or related work experience (required if candidate does not hold the preferred degree).

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience in the semiconductor or related industry.
  • Military electronics training or experience (e.g., Rank E4+).
  • Experience working in large, matrixed organizations.

Education Requirements

Associate's degree preferred (Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or related field). Alternatively, a high school diploma or equivalent plus 1+ year of Engineering Technician or related work experience. Military electronics training may be considered equivalent.
