Engineering Intern - PCB development and optimization for BMS product validation
Role Summary
Integrated in the R&D validation laboratory, the intern will support validation of Battery Management System (BMS) products. The role combines learning lab hardware/software and designing one or more PCBs to automate and improve existing validation tests.
Work is supervised by a validation engineer and involves hands-on use of electronic boards, test programs and prototype verification within the electrification laboratory team.
Experience Level
Entry-level / Internship - intended for final-year master's or engineering students; 6-month placement.
Responsibilities
The intern will perform laboratory validation tasks and design prototype boards under supervision.
- Learn and operate lab validation hardware, software and test interfaces for BMS products.
- Execute tests to gain practical knowledge of BMS products and validation procedures.
- Analyze requirements and existing hardware to define improvement opportunities.
- Design PCB modules: schematic capture and PCB layout.
- Integrate and test ICs and tools on the prototype board.
- Perform in-situ testing of prototypes and iterate designs based on results.
- Participate in team and project meetings and document work outcomes.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and professional attributes.
- Knowledge of electronics and analog circuit design.
- Experience with PCB schematic capture and PCB layout tools.
- Proficiency in Python for test automation or scripting.
- Familiarity with instrumentation and laboratory test equipment.
- Methodical, pragmatic, rigorous and able to manage priorities under supervision.
- Good level of English (written and spoken).
Education Requirements
Master's degree (Bac+5) or final year of an engineering school program in Electronics or an EEA-related university degree (Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Automation) is required.
