Role Summary

Engineer II - Test in Microchip's USB and Networking Group supporting new product introduction (NPI) and sustaining test engineering for digital and mixed-signal devices. The role focuses on test program development, ATE platform conversions, silicon validation, and collaboration with cross-functional teams and contract manufacturers.

Experience Level

Mid-level (Engineer II). Typically requires around 3+ years of semiconductor IC development or test engineering experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

• Develop, debug, characterize, and validate ATE test programs and patterns for NPI.
• Perform ATE platform conversions and tester migrations.
• Lead cross-functional teams on test software and hardware tasks for new and mature products.
• Identify and implement cost and performance improvements in test hardware and software.
• Provide technical leadership to resolve test SW/HW issues and support contract manufacturers.
• Execute silicon validation, qualification, and correlation activities.
• Use bench lab equipment to support debug and verification; participate in loadboard/DIB troubleshooting.
• Drive system and process implementation and support customer technical/logistical concerns.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and capabilities:

• Strong understanding of digital and analog circuits from transistor to system level.
• Hands-on experience with ATE hardware and software (examples: Diamond X, J750, Uflex).
• Experience in silicon development, validation, qualification, and correlation methodologies.
• Test programming skills on ATE platforms and experience with tester platform conversion/migration.
• Advanced statistical data analysis skills and scripting (e.g., Perl); familiarity with tools such as YieldHub.
• Proficiency with version control systems (GIT, SVN, Perforce) and Linux/Unix and Windows environments.
• Hands-on use of bench lab equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs, etc.) and test hardware schematic review/debugging skills.
• Applied programming skills in C, C++, and VB.
• Excellent analytical, project management, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to work with global teams.
• Willingness to travel (up to approximately 25%).

Nice-to-have:

• Knowledge of IC packaging, manufacturing process technologies, wafer fab processes, and device qualification.
• Experience with loadboard schematic design.
• Familiarity with additional test and yield tools.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering. The posting specifies ~3+ years of semiconductor IC development experience.
