Engineer - Hod Hasharon
QualcommJob Title
Engineer - Hod Hasharon
Role Summary
Design and implement modem air-interface and radio-access features for cellular (WWAN) modems, focusing on modem access stratum, RF software, transceiver control, firmware, and system-level integration for multi-RAT (LTE, 5G NR) modems. Collaborate with hardware, RF front-end, and systems teams to deliver modem IP that meets performance, power, and cost targets.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Preferred experience in programming and embedded/wireless systems; the posting cites examples such as 1+ year programming experience and 6+ months of WWAN modem development as desirable.
Responsibilities
Key day-to-day responsibilities include design, verification, and validation of modem components and features.
- Design and implement modem hardware, firmware, or system components from specifications (e.g., 3GPP LTE/5G NR).
- Develop models and simulations to evaluate component behavior and performance.
- Create and execute test cases; verify designs against specifications and identify differences.
- Participate in design reviews and collaborate with cross-functional teams (RFFE, HW, SW, systems).
- Troubleshoot implementation issues during development and commercialization under guidance.
- Document technical designs and feature descriptions for assigned projects.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.
- Must-have: Programming ability in C, C++, or Python (practical experience expected).
- Must-have: Applicable industry experience in wireless, semiconductor, or embedded software (or equivalent practical experience).
- Must-have: Familiarity with modem concepts such as RF, baseband, signal processing, computer architecture, communication protocols, or VLSI.
- Must-have: Ability to develop simulations/models and test cases; basic data analysis and debugging skills.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with embedded systems, computer architecture, or prior WWAN modem development (~6+ months).
- Nice-to-have: Experience working in cross-functional teams on commercialization and silicon/firmware integration.
Education Requirements
Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Preferred: Master’s degree in the same fields. Equivalent practical experience will be considered.
