Engineer - Characterization
Role Summary
Characterization engineer responsible for measuring and modeling custom IP cells and standard cells to provide timing and power data used in verification and signoff for advanced DRAM and emerging memory products. Works on cell optimization, model quality analysis, automation of test flows, and verification methodology.
Experience Level
Entry-level / Early career β typically 2+ years of relevant industry experience or a postgraduate degree in electronics or a related engineering field.
Responsibilities
Key day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Characterize performance of custom IP cells and standard cells; optimize cell design and layout.
- Develop timing and power models from characterization for use in verification flows.
- Perform quality analysis of liberty models for timing, power and functionality.
- Develop and maintain automated testbenches, flows and tools for characterization and data analysis.
- Collaborate with international teams to integrate characterization results into verification and signoff flows.
- Contribute to verification methodology and environments for DRAM and emerging memory designs.

Must-have: Strong understanding of CMOS circuit design.

Preferred / Nice-to-have: Experience with Siliconsmart, PrimeLib, Liberate, Liberate_LV, Primetime, Solido Analytics, and Cadence Virtuoso.

Preferred / Nice-to-have: Familiarity with analog/digital simulation tools such as HSPICE, Spectre, HSIM, Verilog HDL, FINESIM, Simvision.
