Engineer CE PYE (Physical Failure Analysis)

Role Summary

Member of Central Engineering β€” Product Yield Improvement (PYE) team responsible for electrical and physical failure analysis to identify root causes of device and process defects. Work closely with frontend/backend teams and Global Quality to drive corrective actions that improve yield and reliability.

Responsibilities

The role performs advanced failure analysis, fault isolation, and collaborates with cross-functional partners to resolve defectivity and improve processes.

  • Perform electrical device characterization to identify electrical failure mechanisms.
  • Operate fault isolation equipment to locate defects.
  • Conduct physical failure analysis to determine physical defects and root causes.
  • Formulate hypotheses linking electrical models and physical findings to possible failure mechanisms and process fixes.
  • Coordinate with frontend, backend, and Global Quality teams to address defectivity issues.
  • Prepare and deliver regular technical reports on failure mechanisms.
  • Develop and improve fault isolation and physical failure analysis methods.
  • Lead and coordinate CE PYE technicians and manage tools/resources as needed.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a results-driven mindset. (Must-have)
  • Effective interpersonal and presentation skills for communicating in large meetings. (Must-have)
  • Experience with fault isolation tools, methods, and physical failure examination. (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of non-volatile NAND devices and semiconductor fabrication processes. (Preferred)
  • Familiarity with or willingness to adopt AI-enabled methods in analysis workflows. (Preferred)

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent practical experience; Master's or PhD in Electrical/Electronic Engineering also acceptable. The posting explicitly allows equivalent experience in place of a degree.
