Role Summary

Join Arm's Solution Engineering team to develop CAD software, automation, and optimized design flows for compute subsystems and SoCs targeting advanced process nodes (3nm/2nm) and multi-die designs. The role focuses on software tooling, automation, and integration with EDA, foundry, and ecosystem partners to improve power, performance, area and signoff quality.

Deliver reliable, maintainable software tools and infrastructure that support physical design, signoff flows, and engineering productivity.

Responsibilities

The engineer will design, implement, test, and maintain software and automation used in CAD and SoC design flows. Work closely with architects, CAD engineers, and partners to integrate tools and improve silicon quality.

• Design, develop, test, and maintain software tools and applications for CAD workflows.
• Create automation to improve engineering productivity and reduce manual processes.
• Debug complex software, system, and performance issues across toolchains.
• Participate in code reviews and enforce coding standards and best practices.
• Design and maintain APIs, command-line tools, and supporting infrastructure.
• Build and maintain automated unit, integration, and regression tests and CI/CD pipelines.
• Use Git and established CI/CD workflows; deploy and operate containerized services as needed.
• Monitor and improve software reliability, scalability, and performance.
• Collaborate with product teams, architects, foundry and EDA partners during flow development and signoff.
• Create and maintain technical documentation for tools and flows.

Requirements

Core technical skills and practical experience required for day-to-day tasks.

Must-have:

• Strong programming skills in one or more of: Python, TCL, C/C++.
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, OOP, and software design principles.
• Experience with Linux/Unix environments, scripting, Git, and debugging tools.
• Familiarity with databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQLite.
• Experience with REST APIs, distributed systems concepts, CI/CD and container workflows.
• Knowledge of software testing methodologies and development lifecycle practices.

Nice-to-have:

• Working knowledge of agentic workflow models (e.g., OpenAI, Claude) for automation.
• Experience with RTL synthesis tools, static timing analysis (STA), power estimation, and process-design-rule considerations.
• Prior experience in SoC design, CAD engineering, physical design, or signoff flows.
