Job Title

Emulation Field Hardware Support Engineer

Role Summary

Provide hands-on hardware support and operational ownership for Siemens EDA emulation systems (Emulator/ProFPGA and Veloce product lines) across data center, cloud, hybrid environments, and customer sites. Collaborate with R&D, customer teams, and operations to maintain high availability, optimize performance, and expand emulation infrastructure.

Mid-level (experience level not quantified). Prior hands-on hardware support and troubleshooting experience is required.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include installation, service, incident response, and ongoing operational support for emulation hardware across internal and customer environments.

  • Provide lifecycle hardware support: installation, upgrades, service, and end-of-life activities for emulation systems.
  • Diagnose and repair complex electronic hardware to restore system availability and minimize customer impact.
  • Perform incident response, root cause analysis, and problem management for emulation product issues.
  • Conduct onsite and remote hardware support at customer locations, Siemens offices, and home-based dispatch as required.
  • Conduct customer site surveys to validate electrical, environmental, and infrastructure readiness before installation.
  • Execute full system installations: unboxing, rack-and-stack, cabling, hardware assembly, software loading, and initial checkout testing.
  • Manage failed hardware disposition, maintain spare parts inventory, and track assets in internal systems.
  • Collect and report operational data to support monitoring, reliability analysis, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide basic IT and system administration support to maintain operational continuity.
  • Serve as the hardware technical representative, providing proactive onsite support domestically and internationally.

Requirements

  • Must-have: Prior experience troubleshooting and repairing complex electronic hardware.
  • Must-have: Experience with Linux and Microsoft Windows operating systems.
  • Must-have: Experience with high-speed serial data technologies and systems.
  • Must-have: Experience handling electronic parts with proper grounding procedures.
  • Must-have: Strong technical communication, analytical problem-solving, and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Must-have: Customer-facing experience and ability to work in remote customer locations while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Must-have: Possession of a valid driver’s license and flexibility to travel on short notice, including international travel.
  • Must-have: Physical ability to move 50–70 pounds and work on feet for long periods in lab/datacenter environments; ability to reach and work in confined/awkward positions.
  • Must-have: Hands-on experience with monitoring and automation tools; proficiency in performance tuning and system observability across hybrid environments.
  • Must-have: Working knowledge of networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, VPN, TCP/IP) and data center operations.
  • Preferred / Nice-to-have: Experience with emulation hardware and emulation technologies.
  • Preferred / Nice-to-have: Deeper electronic/electrical engineering knowledge and familiarity with enterprise security standards and compliance-driven operations.
  • Preferred / Nice-to-have: Familiarity with safety standards and security/compliance frameworks (ISO, NIST, SOC 2).
  • Preferred / Nice-to-have: Passion for automation, self-healing infrastructure, and continuous improvement.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in electronic or software engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
