Job Title

Electrical Engineer - PCBA Design

Role Summary

Design and deliver printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) solutions for semiconductor metrology equipment within a cross-functional engineering team. Work through requirements, schematic and layout coordination, lab bring-up, testing, and documentation for production release.

Work closely with hardware, firmware, and systems teams to ensure subsystem and system-level integration.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Preferred 2+ years of relevant PCBA design or electrical engineering experience.

Responsibilities

The role owns PCBA deliverables from specification through production release and supports integration and debugging activities.

  • Define PCBA requirements and write specifications and technical documentation.
  • Characterize components and design/prototype analog front-end circuits.
  • Create schematics and coordinate PCB layout with layout engineers (vendor or internal).
  • Develop test criteria for safety and functionality; perform lab bring-up and debug.
  • Validate PCBAs through testing and release documentation to production.
  • Collaborate with multi-discipline and global teams for subsystem/system integration.
  • Travel domestically and internationally as required.

Requirements

Key technical skills and experience required or strongly preferred.

  • Experience with PCBA design and strong fundamentals in electrical engineering and physics (analog circuits, optoelectronics, electromagnetic theory).
  • Familiarity with FPGA design and integration.
  • Schematic entry and board-level layout experience; familiarity with OrCAD and/or Cadence Allegro preferred.
  • Hands-on lab skills with oscilloscopes, spectrum/network analyzers and the ability to analyze measured data to inform design decisions.
  • Effective written and verbal communication; ability to produce specifications, test plans, and release documentation.
  • Proven ability to work in multi-functional, global teams.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with SPICE and electromagnetic simulation tools.
  • Opto-electrical design experience and data analysis using MATLAB and/or Python.
  • Firmware development experience.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field with ~2 years related work experience; or a Master’s degree in a related field (0 years experience required as listed). Equivalent practical experience in lieu of a degree was not explicitly stated.
