Efficiency Engineer

Role Summary

Work within the Productivity Engineering group to drive data-driven optimization and cost-performance improvements across Arm's compute platforms (HPC, cloud, emulation, FPGA). The role focuses on metrics, automation, data engineering and systems engineering to improve utilisation, forecasting and vendor strategy.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include measuring, analysing and improving large-scale compute platforms to increase efficiency and support strategic decisions.

  • Optimize platform scheduling and infrastructure efficiency for HPC and large compute environments.
  • Develop observability, dashboards and visualisations for utilisation and performance analysis.
  • Analyse cost and usage reports and infrastructure metrics to support forecasting, budgeting and optimisation strategies.
  • Assist with performance benchmarking to inform platform decisions.
  • Build and maintain scalable analytics frameworks for utilisation, capacity and workload behaviour measurement.
  • Translate data insights into strategic recommendations for platform evolution and vendor management.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations and finance teams to enable data-driven decisions.

Requirements

Required technical skills and experience for success in this role.

Must-have:

  • Background in data engineering, analytics, HPC or cloud environments.
  • Proficiency in Python and experience with data analysis / ML frameworks.
  • Understanding of distributed compute, HPC or cloud infrastructures and job scheduling concepts.
  • Ability to convert complex data into clear, actionable strategy and recommendations.

Nice-to-have:

  • Familiarity with EDA workflows and semiconductor engineering environments.
  • Experience with IBM Spectrum LSF or other job schedulers.
  • Experience with high-performance storage systems such as NetApp.
  • Experience applying AI/ML to workload optimisation or capacity planning.
  • Experience building production-grade data pipelines.
  • Exposure to FPGA and emulation infrastructure.
