EFA TECH
Micron TechnologyJob Title
EFA Engineer (Electrical Failure Analysis)
Role Summary
Perform electrical failure analysis (EFA) at Micron Memory Taiwan (MTB) to direct physical failure analysis, validate failed parts, and support test proliferation and excursion management. Provide engineering solutions to improve product quality, yield, reliability, and manufacturing effectiveness.
Use AI-enabled tools and data-driven methods to accelerate root-cause diagnosis, improve investigation efficiency, and support continuous improvement projects.
Experience Level
Mid-level; specific years of experience not stated.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Perform electrical failure analysis and required reprocessing techniques per published EFA profiles and certifications.
- Interpret electrical data, failure signatures, and test results to identify failure mechanisms and provide actionable engineering recommendations.
- Monitor yield, enter and maintain accurate monitor notes, generate affected-lot lists, and recall historical die-loss references to identify trends.
- Use data analysis, datamining, and AI-assisted analytics/LLMs to accelerate failure pattern recognition and support root-cause investigations.
- Prepare technical reports and update standard reporting templates with investigation outcomes and recommended actions.
- Coordinate off-hours response with Shift Lead and part owners to attempt root-cause analysis, communicate issues, and recommend actions.
- Balance quality, quantity, and turnaround time to optimize results from the EFA lab.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize failure analysis methodologies, laboratory effectiveness, and engineering processes.
- Follow safety procedures, perform Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) when needed, and enforce lab safety and environmental compliance.
Requirements
Required skills and desirable additions.
- Must-have: Practical experience performing EFA techniques and reprocessing; ability to interpret electrical test data and failure signatures to determine root cause.
- Must-have: Proficiency with data analysis and datamining techniques used in failure investigation and yield monitoring; ability to produce clear monitor notes and reports.
- Must-have: Familiarity with laboratory EFA systems, sample handling, and standard safety/compliance practices (including performing JHAs).
- Must-have: Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams and convey technical findings to stakeholders.
- Nice-to-have: Experience using AI-enabled tools, Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), or AI-assisted analytics to support failure analysis and documentation.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with workflow automation, cloud-assisted tools, or agentic AI solutions to improve productivity and reporting.
