EDA Tools Software Engineer

Role Summary

Develop and maintain EDA tools, flows, and methodologies used by design, process, and manufacturing teams to enable silicon product implementation and verification.

Responsibilities include capturing requirements, writing functional and test code, automating builds and deployments, and performing unit, integration, and end-to-end testing of tools and flows.

Experience Level

Senior — 10+ years of relevant experience in electrical/software engineering, design enablement, or tool optimization.

Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities include:

• Design, develop, test, and debug software tools, flows, and methodologies for design automation.
• Capture user stories and translate requirements into functional specifications and test plans.
• Write functional and test code; develop scripting and automation for builds, deployments, and flows.
• Perform unit, integration, and end-to-end testing of tools and verification flows.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate tools into design and manufacturing processes.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

• 10+ years of experience in electrical/software engineering and design enablement/tool optimization.
• In-depth knowledge of semiconductor device physics, process technology, and design rules.
• Understanding of EM (electromigration), IR drop, and ESD concepts and related EDA support.
• Experience with reliability verification, extraction, and simulation tools, flows, and methodology.
• Scripting and programming skills (examples: SKILL, Python, Perl, Tcl).

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with physical verification flows (LVS, DRC).
• Experience optimizing for Performance/Power/Area/Cost (PPAC).
• Experience driving cross-functional or industry initiatives.
• Experience applying AI/ML to analog layout generation, geometry, or graph-based problems.

Education Requirements

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering field required; the posting specifies this degree together with 10+ years of related experience.
