Job Title

DSP & Systems Architecture Intern

Role Summary

The intern will work on systems-level DSP and architecture problems for electrical and optical interconnects within Marvell's Advanced Technologies team. Tasks include architecting and modeling interconnect systems, developing and optimizing DSP algorithms, building behavioral models and simulations, and validating assumptions with hardware measurements.

Expected base pay: CAD 45–61 per hour.

Experience Level

Entry-level (Internship). Role is intended for current graduate students; no prior full-time experience required beyond relevant research or project work.

Responsibilities

Day-to-day responsibilities include system modeling, algorithm development, and cross-disciplinary validation.

  • Architect, model, and evaluate system-level designs for electrical and optical interconnects using analytical models and simulations.
  • Develop and optimize DSP algorithms for high-speed links, including equalization adaptation, calibration, timing recovery, and signal integrity techniques.
  • Collaborate with analog, digital, photonics, and firmware engineering teams to validate architecture assumptions against hardware and silicon measurements.
  • Build behavioral models and simulations in MATLAB or Python to evaluate performance tradeoffs.
  • Present architectural proposals and algorithm results to engineering leadership and contribute to technical documentation and design reviews.

Requirements

Key skills and experience required for successful performance in this internship.

  • Strong foundation in signal processing, communication theory, control systems, optimization, or system architecture.
  • Research or project experience in high-speed communications, DSP algorithm development, optical communications, SerDes systems, signal integrity, equalization, clock and data recovery, or system-level architecture.
  • Experience developing models and simulations using MATLAB, Python, C/C++ or similar tools.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across DSP, analog, digital, photonics, and firmware engineering disciplines.
  • Self-motivated, curious, and able to work effectively in a team environment.
  • May require eligibility to access export-controlled technology; applicants may undergo an export license review.

Education Requirements

Currently enrolled in a Ph.D. or M.Sc. program in Electrical Engineering or a related field with research focused on optical/electrical interconnects, digital signal processing, or communication systems. (The posting does not list Bachelor's-only or explicit equivalent-experience alternatives.)
