DSP ASIC Design Intern
Role Summary
This internship position involves working with the DSP ASIC Design team in Austin, TX. The intern will document existing DSP code, develop DSP block design requirements, and perform RTL implementations, among other design-related tasks.
Experience Level
Internship level; candidates must be enrolled full-time in a bachelor's or master's degree program in electrical engineering or a related field and should not have graduated before September 2026.
Responsibilities
The intern will have the following responsibilities:
- Comprehend and document existing DSP code in SystemVerilog/Verilog.
- Develop high-level DSP block design requirements.
- Define and document optimized micro-architecture for DSP algorithms to minimize power and area.
- RTL implementation in SystemVerilog/Verilog of DSP functions.
- Block-level verification including creation of Verilog or UVM testbenches.
- Perform block-level design checks including lint, CDC and DFT-readiness checks.
Requirements
Applicants must meet the following qualifications:
- Full-time enrollment as a bachelor’s or master’s student in electrical engineering or a related field.
- Experience with RTL coding, preferably including fixed-point signed arithmetic functions.
- Proficiency in programming and scripting languages such as MATLAB, Python, C/C++, Perl, Tcl, Make, Bash.
- Familiarity with communication/DSP theory including filters, FFT, and signal modulation techniques.
- Understanding of different DSP architectures and tradeoffs.
- Strong logical and creative problem-solving skills with excellent analytical and debugging skills.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
Education Requirements
Must be enrolled full-time in a bachelor's or master's degree program in electrical engineering or a related field.
