DRAM Architect — Principal Engineer, MTS - TPG

Role Summary

Lead system-level DRAM architecture and memory-system solutions to optimize performance, power efficiency, and cost across current and future DRAM generations. Work within Micron's Memory Technology group (MTS - TPG) and collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, product engineering, and systems engineering.

Experience Level

Senior — minimum 7 years of experience in the memory or semiconductor industry (explicit in minimum qualifications).

Responsibilities

Design and validate system-level DRAM and memory solutions; drive architectural direction and mentor others.

• Develop system-level solutions, tools, and methodologies to optimize DRAM performance, power, and cost.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ideate, evaluate, and implement memory system solutions.
• Analyze system behavior and measure solution effectiveness; perform data-driven optimizations and trade-offs.
• Drive architectural innovation for current and future DRAM technologies.
• Communicate complex technical concepts clearly and mentor team members through training and guidance.
• Incorporate AI techniques into job functions where applicable.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and industry experience; preferred items listed separately.

• Proven experience in memory design, product engineering, or memory system architecture and usage.
• Minimum 7 years experience in the memory or semiconductor industry.
• Strong understanding of DRAM architectures and system-level interactions.
• Ability to analyze complex technical problems and drive robust solutions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; effective communication and collaboration across global teams.
• Nice-to-have: experience with LPDDR5/6, DDR5/6, GDDR6/7, HBM3E/4; familiarity with industry trends and system-level trade-offs.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience.
