Job Title

DPU Display Systems Silicon Engineer

Role Summary

Member of the Display Processing Unit (DPU) Silicon System Debug team responsible for identifying, isolating, and resolving silicon- and system-level display issues across Qualcomm platforms. The role sits at the intersection of silicon, systems, and software and supports product reliability and customer deployments.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Target candidates have several years of ASIC/SoC system-debug or validation experience (typical SOC debugging experience ~5+ years).

Responsibilities

Primary duties focus on silicon-level display debugging, tool development, cross-functional collaboration, and technical documentation.

  • Investigate and isolate display failures at silicon and system level reported by customers or internal teams.
  • Apply hardware and software debugging techniques: in-silicon tracing, software logging, signal capture with oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers, and logic analyzers.
  • Develop and maintain silicon debug procedures, data collection tooling, parsers, and analysis utilities.
  • Collaborate with display hardware, display software, SoC infrastructure, and performance/power teams to resolve system-level issues.
  • Document internal and customer-facing debugging processes and technical findings.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers and provide training/support to global customer engineering teams.

Requirements

Looking for hands-on engineers with strong debugging, tooling, and collaboration skills. Education details are in the Education Requirements section below.

  • Proven system-level hardware/software debugging and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and Python for tool development, automation, and data analysis.
  • Experience with signal capture and instrumentation: oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers, logic analyzers.
  • Experience with SoC/ASIC debugging, silicon bring-up, validation, or integration.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; able to document findings and align cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Ability to independently drive projects and manage multiple parallel engagements.
  • Comfortable presenting technical and business topics to varied audiences, including senior management.

Education Requirements

Minimum qualifications specify degree plus experience: Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field with 6+ years of relevant ASIC/SoC experience; OR Master’s degree in Science, Engineering, or related field with 5+ years; OR PhD in Science, Engineering, or related field with 4+ years. Preferred fields mentioned include Computer Engineering or Computer Science with a foundation in SoC design and verification methodology.
