Job Title

Digital Test Engineer

Role Summary

Join Product and Test Engineering (PTE) to develop test solutions for new product introduction (silicon validation and characterization) and manufacturing enablement of Qualcomm SoC products. The role focuses on digital test development, debug, and validation across IP and system levels.

The position collaborates with design, DFT/DFM, packaging, and manufacturing teams and may involve work on high‑speed IO, memory, processors, photonic subsystems, and production ATE flows.

Experience Level

Mid-level — the posting specifies 3+ years of hardware engineering or related experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include developing and executing digital test solutions for validation and production enablement.

  • Create, maintain, and execute test plans and test programs for silicon validation and manufacturing.
  • Develop automated test software/scripts and debug test failures using instruments and ATE platforms.
  • Collaborate with design, DFT, packaging and manufacturing teams to improve testability, yield, and diagnostics.
  • Characterize IP and subsystem performance (HSIO, memory, processors, photonics) and document results.
  • Support ATE bring-up and high-volume production test processes.
  • Use data and analytics to identify test escapes, yield drivers, and opportunities for test-time reduction.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience required for the role; preferred items are listed separately.

  • Must-have: 3+ years hardware engineering or equivalent experience; proficiency with Python, Java, and Linux.
  • Must-have: Experience with common lab/test equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, network analyzers) and understanding of signal integrity/transmission line theory.
  • Nice-to-have: Industry experience with Advantest 93K or Teradyne UFlex/IFlex ATE platforms.
  • Nice-to-have: FPGA programming and embedded software development for optical subsystem prototyping.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with active/passive photonic devices and optical communications metrics (OSNR, receiver sensitivity, optical modulation index).
  • Nice-to-have: Prior experience supporting high-volume semiconductor or PIC/EIC production, and familiarity with yield management and DFM/DFT practices.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Optics/Photonics or a related field is required. A Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering or Optics is preferred. Equivalent practical experience is acceptable where indicated by the posting.
