Role Summary
Customer-facing engineering role focused on digital implementation (backend place & route) for advanced technology nodes. The role works with customers in Japan and collaborates with global R&D and product teams to resolve implementation challenges, influence tooling, and enable successful tapeouts.
Primary responsibilities include technical engagement, troubleshooting, training, and mentoring within the applications engineering organization.

Senior (Sr. Staff to Principal). Requires extensive experience in digital implementation and production-level backend methodologies.
Responsibilities
Expected day-to-day responsibilities and scope:
- Lead technical engagements with customers on digital implementation projects, focusing on backend place & route flows.
- Provide hands-on support and tuning for advanced nodes (N3, N5, N7) to address manufacturability and performance challenges.
- Collaborate with R&D and product teams to provide actionable feedback and influence tool development and feature enhancements.
- Develop and deliver technical presentations, training, and documentation in Japanese for customers and internal teams.
- Troubleshoot complex implementation issues and propose practical solutions to ensure project success.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team best practices and knowledge sharing.

Must-have:
- Extensive experience in digital implementation, specifically backend place & route methodologies.
- In-depth knowledge of advanced technology nodes (N3, N5, N7) and associated implementation challenges.
- Proficiency with industry-standard EDA tools for digital design and implementation.
- Native Japanese speaker or equivalent Japanese proficiency (JLPT N2) — mandatory.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience troubleshooting complex implementation issues.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience delivering training, technical presentations, and customer enablement materials.
- Proven ability to influence product direction and collaborate with global R&D teams.
- Prior mentoring or leadership experience within applications or field engineering teams.
