Job Title
Principal Digital Design Engineer β RTL
Role Summary
Principal-level individual contributor responsible for pre-tapeout quality, architecture, microarchitecture, and RTL development for digital SoC modules on ultra-low-power MCU platforms.
Work across design, verification, FPGA, physical design, and validation teams to deliver production silicon that meets timing, power, and quality targets.
Experience Level
Senior (Principal-level). The posting indicates 20+ years of experience in SoC/IP design and RTL development.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Own pre-tapeout quality for digital SoC modules across MCU platforms.
- Explore system architecture and develop robust microarchitecture for new designs.
- Design and implement RTL for complex IP and SoCs using Verilog/SystemVerilog.
- Evaluate, select, and integrate third-party IP.
- Partner with verification and FPGA teams on test planning, debug, and design quality.
- Collaborate with physical design to achieve timing and power targets.
- Run and resolve quality checks such as LINT, CDC, and RDC; support silicon bring-up and post-silicon validation.
- Raise design quality standards and drive best practices across the development cycle.
Requirements
Must-have and preferred qualifications:
-
Must-have: Extensive experience (20+ years) in SoC/IP design and RTL development.
-
Must-have: Expert-level RTL design and debug skills in Verilog/SystemVerilog.
-
Must-have: Deep knowledge of current and emerging SoC design technologies and ability to assess technical tradeoffs.
-
Must-have: Proven ability to collaborate across design, verification, FPGA, physical design, and validation teams and to guide execution across complex programs.
-
Must-have: Ability to improve design quality and reduce pre-tapeout risk.
-
Must-have: Must be able to work in the United States without visa sponsorship now or in the future.
-
Nice-to-have: Hands-on FPGA bring-up and post-silicon validation experience; experience with timing/power closure and integrating third-party IP.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation & Control Engineering, or a related field.
