Job Title
DFT Engineer
Role Summary
Member of the silicon design team responsible for ensuring testability and quality of TI microcontroller (MCU) devices through design-for-test (DFT) architecture, ATPG, and memory BIST solutions. Works with RTL designers, physical design, and product engineering to produce silicon-proven test solutions for low-cost MCUs.
Focus areas include scan insertion, ATPG sign-off, MBIST for embedded memories, and automation of DFT flows.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Specific years of experience not stated.
Responsibilities
Primary technical responsibilities for this role include DFT implementation, validation, and automation across the design flow.
- Develop and execute DFT architecture and scan insertion strategies for low-cost MCUs.
- Implement and validate ATPG test patterns to meet automotive-grade fault coverage targets.
- Design and deploy Memory BIST (MBIST) solutions for embedded memories across SoC designs.
- Ensure DFT rule compliance from RTL through tape-out and perform DFT sign-off checks.
- Debug and resolve ATPG, scan, and gate-level simulation (GLS) violations.
- Develop and maintain Tcl, Perl, and Python scripts to automate DFT flows and improve efficiency.
- Improve DFT methodologies, flows, and team best practices continuously.
Requirements
Required technical skills and experience; items are condensed from the posting.
-
Must-have: Hands-on experience with ATPG and scan methodologies, including implementing and validating ATPG patterns and performing DFT sign-off checks.
-
Must-have: Experience with Memory BIST (MBIST) integration for embedded memories.
-
Must-have: Experience with scan compression techniques (examples listed in posting: Modus EDT/IJTAG).
-
Must-have: Familiarity with IEEE 1149.1 (JTAG) and IEEE 1500 standards.
-
Must-have: Scripting and automation skills (Tcl, Perl, Python) to maintain and improve DFT flows.
-
Nice-to-have: Exposure to low-power DFT methodologies such as clock gating and power-domain testing.
Education Requirements
Posting specifies a Bachelor's degree (Degree Level: Bachelor's Degree). No specific fields of study or mention of equivalent practical experience were provided.
