DFT Engineer
NVIDIAJob Title
DFT Engineer
Role Summary
Join NVIDIA's silicon engineering team to validate and debug Design-for-Test (DFT) features on advanced GPUs and SoCs. You will work across Design, Test, CAD, and Silicon Engineering to ensure DFT infrastructure and testability meet product requirements.
This role focuses on verification, debugging, test pattern generation, and supporting silicon bring-up and validation for production chips.
Experience Level
Entry-level. Typically requires around 1+ years of relevant industry experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include verification, debugging, and test support across IP to full-chip levels.
- Verify DFT features and test infrastructures (Scan, MBIST, JTAG, boundary-scan and related functionality).
- Collaborate with Design, Integration, CAD, and Test teams to define verification scope and test strategies.
- Execute verification and validation at IP, subsystem, and full-chip levels.
- Perform RTL and gate-level debugging to identify and resolve design and test issues.
- Generate and validate test patterns; support silicon bring-up and failure analysis.
- Develop scripts and automation to improve engineering productivity and verification flows.
- Contribute to verification flow and methodology improvements.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and abilities for success in this role.
- Strong understanding of digital circuits, computer architecture, and semiconductor design fundamentals.
- Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
- Familiarity with RTL simulation and debug tools such as Verdi and VCS.
- Basic understanding of SoC architecture aspects: clocking, reset, power, and I/O.
- Programming or scripting experience (Python, Tcl, Perl, C, or C++).
- Good verbal and written English communication and strong teamwork skills.
Nice-to-have
- Practical experience with DFT methodologies: Scan, ATPG, MBIST, JTAG, and Boundary Scan.
- Experience with RTL or gate-level simulation and silicon bring-up or hardware validation.
- Experience developing automation tools, engineering workflows, or applying ML/AI tools to engineering problems.
Education Requirements
M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Microelectronics, IC Design, or a closely related discipline; typically combined with ~1+ years of relevant professional experience.
