Job Title

Design Verification Student Worker

Role Summary

This is a student/intern role in a pre-silicon verification team responsible for validating RTL implementations of IP features for future Intel products. The primary mission is to design and run verification tests to find and help close design bugs before silicon.

The role works with design engineers, micro-architects, and other verification engineers using simulation- and formal-based methods to achieve functional coverage and quality goals.

Experience Level

Entry-level (student / internship). Candidate is expected to have practical exposure to digital design or ASIC flow (minimums described below) and to be able to contribute under supervision in an engineering team.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include creating and running verification assets, debugging RTL, and collaborating with design teams.

  • Assist in developing pre-silicon validation test plans and test scenarios to verify correctness of designs.
  • Develop simulation components such as bus functional models (BFMs), trackers, checkers, scoreboards, and testbenches.
  • Execute and debug digital simulations, identify issues, and drive resolution of functional bugs.
  • Create and maintain functional coverage and meet coverage objectives.
  • Collaborate with design engineers and micro-architects to refine tests and coverage.
  • Deliver high-quality work on schedule and work effectively in cross-site teams.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and eligibility criteria; preferred items are noted separately.

  • Must-have: Minimum ~4 months hands-on experience in digital design, ASIC design flow, or computer architecture (can include internships or course projects).
  • Must-have: Experience with programming/scripting (examples: C/C++, Perl, Ruby, Python) and working in Unix/Linux environments.
  • Must-have: Experience with hardware description languages such as VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog.
  • Must-have: Familiarity with pre-silicon validation tools and logic simulators (examples: ModelSim, VCS, Xilinx/Quartus flows) and basic debug skills.
  • Must-have: Advanced English communication skills.
  • Must-have: Unrestricted, permanent right to work in Mexico (this role is not eligible for visa or immigration sponsorship).
  • Preferred: Basic testbench development experience and functional coverage implementation.

Education Requirements

Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field, with at least one year remaining before graduation. Requirements may also be met through a combination of relevant internships, course work, research, or equivalent practical experience.
