Job Title
Design Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Join the Data Accelerator (DACC) verification team to develop and drive verification strategy for custom hardware accelerators used in servers, datacenters, client and embedded products. The team focuses on functional verification, automation, power/performance verification, and emulation support for IP blocks and subsystems.
You will design and maintain verification environments and flows, lead test planning and closure, introduce automation (including AI-assisted techniques), and mentor other engineers to improve team methodology and delivery.
Experience Level
Mid-level. The posting requests extensive hands-on hardware verification experience; the team indicates a typical expectation of 8+ years of verification experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Architect, develop, and maintain block- and subsystem-level verification testbenches, test methodology and infrastructure.
- Own detailed test plans for new features and drive test-plan reviews with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Lead triage of regressions, debug complex simulations, analyze coverage, and drive resolution with design and verification teams to achieve verification closure.
- Deploy and evolve verification methodologies such as UVM, formal verification, and AI-assisted verification flows.
- Take end-to-end ownership of key features across projects and mentor junior and mid-level engineers on verification best practices.
- Reproduce silicon functional bugs in simulation and/or formal tools and support emulation and power/performance verification (PPV) activities.
- Conduct code reviews and help establish coding and verification standards for the team.
Requirements
Must-have:
- Extensive hands-on hardware functional verification experience across multiple projects or tapeouts.
- Proficient in Verilog, SystemVerilog and UVM.
- Strong programming skills and experience working in Linux and Windows environments.
- Familiarity with Makefiles and scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or Ruby.
- Experience with formal verification methods and emulation support, including debug and coverage analysis.
- Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills; ability to own complex verification tasks and mentor others.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience applying AI/ML techniques to verification (AI-assisted test generation, debug/log triage, or coverage-driven techniques).
- Track record of piloting or championing emerging verification tools and data-driven verification methodologies.
- Familiarity with hardware accelerators (encryption, authentication, compression, compute offloads) and related verification challenges.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering with industry verification experience.
