Job Title
Design Engineering Architect
Role Summary
Lead front-end design projects and a team of RTL engineers to deliver IPs and subsystems that meet performance, power, and area (PPA) targets. The role combines technical leadership, microarchitecture definition, RTL implementation, and pre-silicon verification oversight.
Work cross-functionally with verification, physical design, architecture, firmware, and STA teams to ensure successful delivery of complex semiconductor IP and SoC integrations.
Experience Level
Senior — typically requires 10+ years of front-end design and/or verification experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include technical leadership, architecture, implementation, verification sign-off, and cross-team coordination.
- Lead and mentor a team of RTL design engineers; provide technical direction and design reviews.
- Define and develop microarchitectural features for IPs and subsystems to meet PPA goals.
- Implement, debug, and optimize RTL in Verilog/SystemVerilog/VHDL for complex digital logic.
- Oversee pre-silicon verification and signoff activities, including linting, CDC checks, formal verification, and quality gates.
- Coordinate with Design Verification, Physical Design, Architecture, firmware, and STA teams to resolve integration and timing issues.
- Support synthesis flows, SDC creation, and interactions with PD and STA teams during implementation and signoff.
- Drive results and manage progress in multi-disciplinary engineering projects.
Requirements
Key must-have skills and desirable qualifications.
-
Must-have: 10+ years of front-end design and/or verification experience.
-
Must-have: Proven experience leading and managing complex engineering projects and teams.
-
Must-have: Strong RTL design skills (Verilog/SystemVerilog); experience with simulators and debugger tools.
-
Must-have: Experience with IP creation and SoC/IP integration (CPU, memory, interfaces).
-
Must-have: Hands-on experience with synthesis flows and SDC creation; ability to support PD and STA teams.
-
Nice-to-have: Familiarity with Cadence front-end toolset.
-
Nice-to-have: Strong communication skills and self-motivated, proactive work style.
