Role Summary

The CPU Verification Engineer will be responsible for verifying design features across all aspects of CPU. This role involves collaborating closely with various teams to develop comprehensive test plans and executing those plans using simulation and formal verification methodologies.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop deep understanding of CPU micro-architecture.
  • Collaborate with design and verification teams within CPU to create comprehensive test plans.
  • Utilize simulation and formal verification methodologies to execute test plans, including writing checkers and assertions.
  • Verify power intent through methodologies like UPF.
  • Coordinate with system architects and software teams to validate system use cases.
  • Work with the emulation team to enable verification on emulators and FPGA platforms.
  • Debug and triage failures in simulation, emulation, and/or silicon.

Requirements

Must-have qualifications include:

  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering, with coursework in computer architecture.
  • Experience with programming languages such as C/C++ and scripting languages including Perl/Python.
  • Familiarity with hardware description languages, like System Verilog or VHDL.
  • Experience in implementation of assembly and C language embedded firmware.
  • Knowledge of software tool chains including assemblers, C compilers, Makefiles, and source code control tools.

Nice-to-have qualifications include:

  • Masters or PhD degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.
  • Strong understanding of micro-processor architecture and power management concepts.
  • Experience in silicon bring-up and validation of CPU features.
  • Experience debugging issues related to functional, power, performance, and physical design in silicon.
  • Experience in CPU design and verification.
  • Development of test vectors for tester bring up.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field.
