Computer Vision/Machine Learning Intern
Role Summary
Internship in the e-Beam division to research and prototype image processing and machine learning algorithms for semiconductor inspection products. Work focuses on deep learning for defect detection/classification and generative/diffusion models for SEM image simulation and enhancement.
Experience Level
Entry-level intern. Role is intended for current Master's or PhD students (research/academic experience preferred).
Responsibilities
Contribute to research and prototype development for imaging and ML features used in next-generation inspection systems.
- Research and prototype image processing, computer vision, and deep learning algorithms for defect detection and classification.
- Develop and evaluate models for SEM image simulation and image quality enhancement using generative/diffusion approaches.
- Implement prototypes in frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch and in Python or MATLAB.
- Run experiments on SEM or inspection datasets, analyze results, and iterate on models.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to integrate and validate prototypes.
Requirements
Core technical skills and experience required for productive contribution during the internship.
Must-have:
- Practical experience in image processing, machine learning, computer vision, or deep learning.
- Working knowledge of at least one ML framework or tool: TensorFlow, PyTorch, Python, or MATLAB.
- Experience prototyping models and running experiments on image data.
- Ability to communicate results and work within a team of engineers and researchers.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with generative or diffusion models for image synthesis or enhancement.
- Prior exposure to SEM imaging, semiconductor inspection data, or related domains.
Education Requirements
Students working towards a Master's or PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
