Chipset/Chip Program Manager
Role Summary
Manage end-to-end chipset/IC/HW/SW programs for datacenter products, driving schedule, budget, resources, deliverables and risk to on-time delivery. Work cross-functionally with engineering, product, manufacturing, legal, and external partners across multiple sites.
Experience Level
Mid-level program management role. Minimum experience listed at 4+ years program management; preferred candidates have 7+ years and substantial semiconductor program experience.
Responsibilities
Accountable for planning and executing chipset programs from initiation through delivery, including stakeholder alignment and program reporting.
- Establish and maintain the Plan of Record (POR): roadmap, requirements baseline, change control and priorities.
- Create and maintain program master schedule, staffing plans, work plans and interdependency tracking.
- Track program metrics, schedule trends, risks; develop mitigation and recovery plans and a risk matrix.
- Coordinate schedules and deliverables across multiple internal sites, contractors and external partners; support international travel as needed.
- Lead cross-functional meetings, design reviews and program reviews; present status to management.
- Manage program-level budgets and monitor project financials.
- Interface with contracts, legal, manufacturing, technical publications and product support to align priorities and resources.
- Troubleshoot program issues and propose alternative schedules, resources or processes to meet milestones.
Requirements
Key must-have experience, skills, and constraints.
- Direct experience in semiconductor development required; candidates without semiconductor development experience will not be considered.
- 4+ years of program management or related work experience (preferred 7+ years for senior consideration).
- 2β3+ years working on digital SoC and/or mixed-signal baseband and/or RF chip programs in a program management role.
- Experience interacting with senior leadership (VP-level and above).
- Experience working in medium-to-large matrixed organizations and coordinating across multiple sites.
- Experience with program management tools and reporting (dashboards, Gantt charts, program KPIs).
- Experience managing operating budgets, resources, and project financials.
- Ability to organize and lead cross-functional teams, and to present program status and risks to executive stakeholders.
Education Requirements
Required: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field. Preferred: Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field. (Source indicates degree fields and a Master's is preferred.)
