Job Title
CAD and Integration Engineer, Silicon
Role Summary
Join the custom silicon team to translate circuit intent into physical constraints and deliver foundry-ready silicon. Work closely with circuit designers, digital designers, layout engineers, and foundry contacts to drive synthesis, place-and-route, signoff, and 3D stacking flows.
The role includes developing automation tools and using AI-assisted design to improve CAD flows and engineering velocity.
Experience Level
Senior β the role expects experienced candidates; the posting specifies 12+ years of industry experience.
Responsibilities
Key day-to-day responsibilities include implementation, integration, and automation across analog and digital domains.
- Integrate AI/LLM tools into CAD workflows to automate tasks and improve productivity.
- Lead analog/mixed-signal physical integration and enforce design constraints with circuit and layout teams.
- Manage end-to-end digital implementation (RTL-to-GDS): synthesis, place-and-route, DFT insertion, and signoff.
- Drive physical signoff activities (timing, power, verification) to produce foundry-ready deliverables.
- Develop 3D stacking flows for heterogeneous integration, including die-to-die interface planning and cross-die timing/power analysis.
- Automate implementation, tapeout, and regression using Python, SKILL, and Tcl.
- Communicate technical decisions and project status with cross-functional partners and foundry contacts.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.
- Proven industry experience in analog CAD/automation across multiple technology nodes and tapeouts.
- Expertise in full RTL-to-GDS flow, digital synthesis, place-and-route, DFT insertion, and physical signoff.
- Proficiency with analog/mixed-signal design environments and simulation tools.
- Knowledge of PDKs and SPICE model qualification procedures.
- Strong programming and automation skills (SKILL, Python, Perl or similar).
- Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants in engineering workflows.
- Proven ability to work with circuit designers, layout engineers, and foundry teams on technical issues.
-
Nice-to-have: advanced packaging experience, hierarchical chip integration for large SoCs, low-power design (multi-voltage, UPF), and direct foundry engagement on PDK and DRC/qualification.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a relevant technical field, or BS/MS/PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field. The posting also accepts equivalent practical experience; the role as listed expects significant industry experience (12+ years).
