Job Title

Audio Acoustic & Hardware Applications Engineer

Role Summary

The engineer will design, test, tune, and support audio hardware and acoustic solutions from concept through mass production. The role provides application support for high-speed amplifiers and works closely with electrical, firmware, algorithm, and product teams across global sites to optimize end-to-end audio performance.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Requires 5+ years of relevant audio industry experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Design, evaluate, and characterize audio hardware systems (speakers, amplifiers, digital audio interfaces).
  • Perform acoustic measurements and psychoacoustic evaluations to validate performance and compliance.
  • Tune audio algorithms and systems for optimal sound quality in various acoustic environments.
  • Support hardware bring-up, debugging, and root-cause analysis for prototypes and production units.
  • Collaborate with software and algorithm teams to define requirements and improve system-level audio performance.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation: test reports, tuning guidelines, and design recommendations.
  • Benchmark acoustic performance against competitor products as part of customer-side evaluations.

Requirements

Must-have:

  • 5+ years of audio industry experience in hardware design or acoustic engineering.
  • Solid knowledge of speaker protection and speaker modeling.
  • Practical experience with audio-processing technologies (equalizers, dynamic range compressors, non-linear compensation).
  • Strong knowledge of analog and digital audio circuits, transducers, and acoustic testing methodologies.
  • Proficiency with audio test equipment and measurement systems (for example SoundCheck, Klippel, APx).
  • Familiarity with audio signal processing concepts, common codecs (MP3, AAC, WMA, RA, etc.) and interfaces (I2S, TDM, SoundWire, etc.).
  • Good communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills; willingness to relocate to Shanghai preferred and to travel across China frequently to support customers.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with TI audio products (low- and mid-power audio ICs).
  • Experience with Python, MATLAB or similar tools for analysis and automation.
  • Embedded systems or DSP programming experience.
  • Experience in consumer electronics audio product development, acoustic simulation/tuning tools, or chip failure analysis.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or higher degree in Acoustics, Electrical Engineering, Audio Engineering, or a related technical field.
